The emerging Hispanic middle class, unlike most constituencies the Democrats are used to dealing with, don't want to be GIVEN anything. They left a country that has wrung out that old fraud far more then even the Dems have been able to here. They want a country where they are FREE (remember that "out-of-date" term?), especially, FREE to control their private property and grow it for the betterment of themselves and their families. AFDC and food stamps, in the longer run, will cut very little mustard with this group. And the baby killing on an industrial scale REALLY rubs them the wrong way...
