Re: Since HP helped INTC out on developing IA-64, will this news bother HP?

I would think so. On another note, what does Dell think? IBM, HP, and CPQ all have 8-way and greater Mckinley chipsets in development. How will Dell compete with these guys? Unisys? I think Dell has shown that it can easily take market share in the 2-way and 4-way server space where Intel provides them with systems, but moving up will be much more difficult. Well at least until Intel starts developing 32-way systems.

If I were HP, I would be happy since this gives me a chance to steal business from Compaq as Compaq struggles to transition its customers. Compaq is likely to be a much weaker company by the time all this is over.

Why should this bother HP? Where is the downside in this for HP?
