IMC Global sees Q2 earnings just above break-even
biz.yahoo.com

LAKE FOREST, Ill., June 25 (Reuters) - IMC Global Inc. (NYSE:IGL - news), a producer of agricultural fertilizers, said on Monday it expects fully diluted second-quarter earnings from continuing operations to be only
slightly better than break-even due to strength in the Canadian dollar and higher debt refinancing costs.

The Lake Forest, Ill.-based company said second-half and full-year results will be hurt by continued weak phosphate demand and, more recently, a sharp decline in selling prices. Without any sustained improvement in current phosphate pricing and demand levels, IMC said earnings per share from continuing operations for 2001 may only be in the single-digit range. IMC shares closed on the New York Stock Exchange at $10.18 on Friday. They have a 52-week trading range of $10.09 to $16.6875.
