doug, AMD has grown share in all the markets it has entered. Since dell has nothing at all in the AMD sector of each of these markets they are slowly being forced into a corner. let us say that Dell has 100% of the intel business and the AMD share is split between IBM, CPQ and HP. If AMD ups it's share then dell share must fall.
This is the situation we have now with the exception that dell only has about 35% share of the intel market. that means that for every 3% AMD share grows the Dell share falls by 1% unless they also increase their share within the intel sector.

Dell is in a bad position and it knows it. so is has found a way to shoehorn AMD in via those laptops. Soon others will want those dell laptops. A market is a market.
