If amperage goes up, it will remove much of the benefit of going to a lower voltage. We just have to wait for final specs.

At that speed, it did do better - but it had to run at 1.45v. Coppermines at that voltage used less amperage (significantly).

The chip does look like it's about 2/3's of process generation better, enough for Intel to put higher speed Tualatins rather suddenly in the roadmap, and start to back away from P4. P4 may be moving to the sidelines.
