there is no underpinning here if we deflate. no resource.

correct me if my impression is too extreme. but i see no underpinning of values at all in the usa except for the artificially induced by the fed et al.

though that is somewhat besides your question to be sure.

there is something to this theory. IF Japan's new govt. is true to its words and allows a market based solution to hold sway, unintended near term consequences (i.e.a full blown financial panic) could result. but it would be the final, if extremely painful, wash-out for Japan imo, creating a truly buyable low with the Nikkei in 4 digits (8 K is my long standing target).
of course there's always the (remote) possibility that when the maw opens there, the whole world will be swallowed. but i don't see how Japan can solve its problems and avoid a frightful crisis at the same time...it's either keep muddling through, or take the risk.

crisis harbors opportunity...
