I have always maintained that buying a slice at an arbitrary price is a fools game.

May I contest that opinion ? for the last 11 years, I have bought quarterly, my (ex)employer's stock, as part of the employee stock purchase plan. I had no control over the stock price or the market, therefore I did buy at an arbitrary price. all I did was put a fixed $ amount in every quarter to buy. My returns are probably not the "best in the world", but they are significant enough for me to "feel good" (and sleep easy). I sure don't feel like a fool.

cheers, kumar
