If you meant Madison, that isn't really the third generation, just a proliferation of 2nd-generation McKinley.

However, work on 3rd-generation Itanium and corresponding platforms is already well underway.

Or were you expecting corporations to pay Itanic prices for a machine that runs their existing installed base almost as fast a Pentium classic 166?

There's no software for Itanic - why do you think Alpha tanked? Alpha was a much better chip, but, like Itanic, had very little software to run.

Got it? Lesson learned?

AMD learned it, that's why their 64 bit chip doesn't need new software - too bad Intel seems to have missed class.
