Rok, it is not really a pattern on the way up, but rather my requirements to establish a short position in an uptrending momentum stock.

Re: options

I have no problem with writing covered calls or naked puts, as long as the underlying stock is a value oriented.

To do that, one would need to know that the spike were coming and the pattern would unfold, as not all slow upwardly-momo stocks experience the necessary spike. (I think that's another way of saying the same thing Michail did. That is, the pattern is not in place until the spike happens. Until then, it's just another uptrending stock.)

(But with THAT kind of clairvoyance, who would need patterns anyway?)
