Both side have to either agree to accept a lot less than what they think they deserve, or watch the future of their children and grandchildren evaporate in an endless war.

Well said... Unfortunately, both sides have gravitated to their most extreme sides.

But, despite the cynical nature of his strategy, Sharon is winning the international war for sympathy.. Tony Blair told him yesterday that he would have taken a similiar, or more harsh action had that bombing taken place in London.

The tactics of Hamas don't play well in the Western media and especially in Europe, which as so many memories of car bombs exploding in their own towns.

But they sure seem to do wonders for stirring up the Palestinian/Arab support for self created "martyrdom".

Sharon has played a very shrewd game. He can generally control his extremists to a certain extent. But he knows that Arafat can't control his. So on the stage of public opinion, Sharon will sacrifice a few Israelis in order to gain the world's blessing to remove Arafat and settle this issue once and for all with a more moderate Palestinian partner.

It's taking longer than I thought it would for the final blow to fall, but I still see it as inevitable this year.

Mani, the problem among many is there are more than one side...What is exactly a Palestian "side" ...Arafat or his successor would be able to control Palestinian factions not any better than Thaci in Kosovo or Chechen "Gvn"....even North Ireland evades solution...As for possible international observers/troops, what can they possibly do? Accept blame? There is no solution short of one side whiping-out another side...that International Community (hopefully) would not tolerate, so there will be a stalemate
even if cool heads agree, hot heads will sabotage it...

You and I can sit next to each other in Memphis Cafe in Crans-sur-Sierre and have cup of tea and even play a round of golf. Maybe we even to go to dinner at Beau Rivage in Geneve, but we come from to different streets. We have nothing in common apart from civility that we can show each other. Not even our business principals are the same! So why share a country?
