I agree stock prices are very cheap now. But part of the reason they're not rallying back is that we have a weak president whom the market doesn't like or trust and who offers no wisdom economically. He hasn't even made an economic speech except to push through his tax plan as a cure for the recession. No wonder the big sell-off began as soon as he took the lead in the polls, except for energy and tobacco stocks of course. Bush had a brief honeymoon but it's going to be all downhill from here for him.

Unfortunately the tax cut wont help in the short run because so much of it is delayed. It might actually hurt in the short run because people seeing lower taxes in the future can delay investment to later when the returns will have a lower tax hit. I'd rather they just cut the rate for this year instead of phasing it in over a period that will extend past Bush's term.
