Striped Surprise for Shetland Pony
Tuesday June 26 9:15 AM ET
dailynews.yahoo.com

LONDON (Reuters) - What do you call a cross between a pony and a zebra?

That is the question puzzling employees at a visitors' farm in northwest England, where a Shetland pony
recently gave birth to a foal bearing an uncanny resemblance to a zebra.

``She's beautiful,'' said Jim Peet of the Eden Ostrich World farm in Cumbria.

``Very much like a zebra but instead of being white, she's brown. The stripes are quite definite, from
the tip of her ears to the tip of her tail,'' he told BBC radio on Tuesday.

The pony came to the farm from a local circus, where she had been penned with a zebra so the two
could keep each other company, he said.

Robbie Robertson, guitarist and chief songwriter for the Band, has
been busy working on the extensive reissue campaign for the
ensemble's catalog, supervising the remastering of its albums and the
selection of bonus tracks from the vaults. Now he's in the midst of
working on a new version of "The Last Waltz," the film and album
project culled from the Band's 1976 farewell concert on Thanksgiving
Day at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. One of the most
legendary live dates in rock and roll history, the show featured an
extensive guest list that included Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Van
Morrison, Joni Mitchell, Dr. John, Emmylou Harris, Muddy Waters,
Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood and others. The event was captured
on film by director Martin Scorsese.
