10:35AM ET After an almost 30 pt gap down on the Nasdaq, the Index made a decent turnaround, but has thus far been stymied by intraday resistance at 2042. The key to improving the short term tone is follow through beyond the 2053 and 2060 barriers...A stronger than expected June consumer confidence number (117.9 vs consensus of 114.5). This will provide some optimism on the consumer front, though ongoing layoffs and renewed slide in stocks call into question its sustainability. Also on the economic front, May New Home Sales rose 0.8% to 928K vs consensus of 900K
