Yes, you can't deny that barrick is smart, whatever it has done to gold price. And buying HM is a smart move as well.

I have read these complaint as well...and

>"Barrick ruined the gold price"

I disagree

>"The central banks are dumping gold"

I disagree.. as a group they still own almost as much 30 years ago

>"Leasing is evil"

I mostly agree if we are talking that part of leasing that went into the gold carry trade. But I agree with the gold loans established to help bring mines into production.

>"Hedging is bad"

It all depends.. Long term, they are a zero sum game. But on an annual basis, they can make sense. In the beginning, they hurt the price of metals but in the long run they will help it. That is why gold is heading back up to $350.

>"It's a conspiracy"

I disagree.. but there is some manipulation..like there are in the currencies business.

Bob:

We are glad you are back. You're the culprit. There has been a malaise for the past couple of weeks. A capitulation if you like. Didn't know what to make of it until now. Without any fanfare or notice of any kind you left us, after all that's happened in 7 months. Double bottoms at 255, head fake in March to 272, stealth move in April and spike in May. This retracement wasn't that bad. Now that you're back, I can add capitulation to the list and know that we can now move forward. I think my timing of kicking the habit was better. Gave up for 98, 99 & 00.

BTW are we having another stealth move where everyday up a couple so no media news (except ABX/HM, diversion for couple of days)?

Regards

Bob
