No, I was implying that they aren't absolutely answerable. Society, and what it views as right and wrong, changes by geography, culture and above all time.

To the slave owner in his society, his slave is property - less than human. He is not committing murder by killing him.

We think very differently. And, of course, we assert that we are right.

I don't like, and don't think it is either practical or worthwhile, to judge those of the distant past (i.e., beyond living memory) for not matching the morality of today.
And a judgement of society will inevitably change - as society changes.
