Palm posts $153 mln Q4 loss, revenue plunges

SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 26 (Reuters) - Palm Inc. (NasdaqNM:PALM
- news) on Tuesday reported a fourth-quarter pro forma operating loss of $153.6 million on sharply lower
revenues, as the company has been plagued by slackening demand, oversupply, and discounted prices for
its handheld computers.

Palm, the leading manufacturer of personal digital assistants (PDAs), said the pro forma loss, which
excludes certain special items, for the period ended May 2001 was $153.6 million, or 16 cents a share,
compared with pro forma operating income of $13.4 million last year.

Including the items, the actual net loss for the fourth quarter was $392.1 million, or 69 cents per share.
