OT re socialized medicine:

Yes, that's exactly what we need. Most foreigners think we are barbarians, because we don't socialize our medical costs, and we do have the death penalty, among other reasons.

For my personal financial standpooint, as a physician, it would be a bad thing. For the country, it would be a good thing.

I know Socialist ideas have been totally defeated by Capitalist ideas, in the last 10-20 years. But Capitalism triumphed by co-opting all the (many) good ideas of Socialism. A lot of excellent programs that are now institutionalized in the rich world, were first proposed by Communists and Socialists a century ago.
