Hi mark,

Yes, I'm familiar with the remnants left behind after a Windoze uninstall. It seems that application developers have allowed themselves to "develop" some really bad habits over the last couple of years. The code they write seems more like a virus than anything else, the way it smears itself throughout the registry....

mark,

While we are on the subject. It's not that I don't like my Norton AV2001, sorta.... but I'm wondering if any of these other uninstall utilities would be of equivalent worth in your opinion:

download.cnet.com

In particular, I doubt a quarter of a million folks could be wrong:
download.cnet.com

Though the warning about committing to buying it is amusing. Seems that there's some funny scripts creating gotchas for the freeloader... Hehe.

And while we're at it, wondering if you have an opinion on some of these registry cleaners:

pciwest.tucows.com

All comments welcomed!

Ciao, Ray

mr mark, re Norton cleansweep: I seem to remember some uninstalls using cleansweep where I got a message that some files could not be removed. That leaves me with the impression CS is not always perfect. When this happened I always did nothing, i.e. the files left behind are still around.
