Sounds like we have the same idea. Frankly, I think many minority groups have been screwed by another group. Native Americans, for one. The problem for me comes up, as you suggest, when somebody claims an entitlement based on that. The individuals who did the deeds and the individuals who suffered are no longer with us. Moreover, as you also suggest, just where do you draw the line? An excellent example to illustrate is the Hemming family that descended from Sally Hemming and supposedly Thomas Jefferson. Within that very family there are people who want to embrace one lineage or the other, and there are people who want to forget the whole thing. So how can we sort this out as a nation when the lines between groups have become blurred? It's a very interesting question. Personally, I think it should be handled one on one. Forgiveness goes a long way. Anyway, I wish I knew you, my friend. I bet we could have a good time together.
