Carpe, How have you been? I don't think we have successfully retested the April 4 low yet. We need to get near 1850 on COMPX or under 1600 on the NDX, IMO. I think we have now run out of time before the early July rally and the late summer tight trading range. So my bet is that we make the next attempt to retest the lows sometime after Labor Day. And rebound sharply off the October earnings, which I expect to be vastly improved. . . as the economy strengthens. WestPacific believes that we need another 6-12 months before the interest rate cuts begin to take effect. . . and that could be. But my feeling is that the markets move more in anticipation of economic changes rather than as a result of them.

Despite Greenspan's dislike of surprises, he has surprised the markets more in 2001 than perhaps any time in the past 10 years. So careful placing bets on his track record.

Window dressing day appears to be to the up side. . . this would normally trigger a ProfitOften. . . but we really need to see what Greenspan does and consider the ramifications beforehand. And there are a number of top name techs that did NOT warn. So July may come with a few surprises of its own.

Best to you and your family. How has your 18 year old young man been? Were you able to get him into the Medical Center at Duke? And are they providing relief of symptoms? Still in our prayers.
