Don't Rush Into Banks Just Yet
By Matthew Goldstein

IF YOU'VE BEEN waiting for a big bounce in bank stocks this year — especially in the wake of the Federal Reserve's five straight interest-rate slashings — you may want to set your sights on 2002 instead. Despite a lot of exuberance early in the year, the generally weak performance of big bank stocks like Citigroup (NYSE:C - news), J.P. Morgan Chase (NYSE:JPM - news) and Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC - news) is likely to continue for the rest of 2001.

BONN, June 27 (Reuters) - Germany's banking watchdog on Wednesday echoed a chorus of recent warnings that bank profits are likely to fall in 2001 and called for cost cuts to address the growing problem.

One world is it not?

Kudlow says, "Oh Martha, you were one of my favorite Fed governors".

Martha says, "we've got to get that dollar down" and "the reason banks aren't making loans is they are doing mergers instead".

Kudlow was a reporter and somehow floated to the top of the Wall Street toilet. Martha Seger out sat her opponents and also floated up to the top. Kudlow has an excuse, but Seger should be excused and was. Neither believes in market determination of price. They want to force the right configuration which they are quite confident they have. I wonder what would happen to inflation with Kudlow pumping and Seger directing the monies to lowering the dollar.

JFK's speech was great because it humiliated the anti-anti-communists. The Democrats at the time were wringing their hands about speaking harshly about the Sovs. They were more hostile to anti-communists than the communists themselves. JFK put them in their place.
