CLECs, Incumbents and the Impact of Tauzin/Dingell

Mike,

You might well find this American Enterprise Institute scholar's viewpoint of interest (I did):

Message 15978626

It was particularly chilling to see how Tauzin/Dingell could easily be correlated with the destruction of huge amounts of equity. Whether there is a cause and effect relationship in not really proven, IMHO, but nonetheless, it is a chilling reminder that of the potential for mischief, and the power to destroy that our government holds.

JM2C, Ray :)

Mike,
thx alot for rounding out your view of the situation. I do think I understand your position more detailed now. Yes I agree also with your shortterm conclusion of ILECs vs. MSOs - court battles and lobbying. But don't expect too much especially from the legislative side - see: Tauzin/Dingell's bill and how far it came or better how far it didn't come..

And don't forget the IXCs. As soon as it becomes clear exactly HOW a feasible, profitable CLEC model could look like, I fully expect the IXCs to step up to this plate big time. In this regard I really would like to see schemes lik BBFW to succeed. Hopefully the FCC will leave those MMDS licence bands unchanged and does NOT allocate them to the 3G black hole.
