613, they are NOT using any new protocol. They have simply built into XP technology that is friendly to VOIP. NTOP is and will remain the provider of services for MSFT messenger. Howie Balter confirmed that in the CC.

Here is a detailed article explaining exactly what they have done.

You really need to do better research before making wild statements like that. If you don't think they matter read this.

613, I haven't been a huge fan of late either with the way NTOP does things but if one adage can hold true in the market it may be the one about picking the market leader in an industry of growth.

CSCO has been extremely high on VOIP and appears to see it as one of the next new areas of rapid growth. I think that is the key for me here. If you look at NTOP as the market leader and realize that there really isn't much of a second choice, you then have to analyze whether or not you feel this industry is one which money can be made and if you feel NTOP in this nescient industry is a necessity. That is the trouble I am having evaluating NTOP, where does it go in five years? Are the Verizon, T, Southern Bell, et al. associations really going to happen, are they already happening, and what kind of business will this bring NTOP? What is ADIR's weight is it real? It really appears from the cc anyway we are at best real premature.
