FONAR Sells Another Stand-Up MRI

MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BW HealthWire)--June 28, 2001--FONAR Corporation
(NASDAQ-FONR), The Patient-Friendly(TM) MRI Company, announced today the sale
of Indomitable(TM), the Stand-Up MRI(TM), to an independent customer on the east
coast.

When asked about the importance of this latest sale, Raymond V. Damadian, M.D.,
president and chairman of FONAR, said, ``The increasing frequency of Stand-Up
MRI(TM) sales is gratifying.'' This announcement comes on the heels of FONAR's
announcement yesterday of a sale of Indomitable(TM) in New York State.

The Stand-Up MRI(TM) scans the patient standing or sitting, as well as in all the
conventional horizontal positions. All conventional MRIs scan patients in the horizontal
position. The ability to scan patients in an upright posture allows the patient to be scanned in
his position of pain where the prospect of identifying the pathology causing the patient's
symptoms is maximized.

``For the first time,'' said Dr. Damadian, ``we can place the patient in the weight-bearing
position that causes him pain and snap a picture. If the symptom manifests itself only under
weight-bearing conditions, that's the position in which the MRI should be done, not when the
patient is lying down where the symptom may not be present.

``Indomitable(TM), a high-field Open MRI scanner, is extraordinarily patient friendly.
Patients find sitting or standing for their scans to be very pleasant. There is nothing in front of
their faces or over their heads that might induce claustrophobic reactions, and they can watch
television throughout the scan. Moreover, Indomitable(TM) excels on another count.
Operating at a magnetic field strength field of 0.6 Tesla, its magnetic field is twice the strength
of most installed Open MRIs. Thus Indomitable(TM) provides superior image fidelity at
higher scanning speeds than most existing Open's.''

The Company's other products include the Echo(TM), a compact MRI designed to sell at a
low price; the QUAD(TM)12000, a four-post, 0.6 Tesla Open MRI; the Pinnacle(TM), a
0.6 Tesla Open MRI with superconducting magnet technology; and the FONAR 360(TM),
available in its ``open sky'' configuration for diagnostic purposes and, in the future, in its
``interventional 360'' configuration for MRI-guided interventions. The Company's
works-in-progress scanner, the mpExtremity(TM), is an in-office MRI unit that scans only
extremities (arms, knees, wrists, etc.) in multiple, weight-bearing positions.
