Re: " What will Compaq decide at the end of 2002 when they discover that **McKinley is not going to arrive until the END of 2003**"

They will discover that Petzinger doesn't know what he's talking about.

McKinley HAS ALREADY ARRIVED - about 4 months ago !!

i870 ARRIVED about 2 1/2 months ago !!

Compaq already has McKinly/i870 beta systems IN HOUSE - and the performance of these systems was instrumental in COMPAQ realizing they had to DUMP their Alpha and get on board with the IA64 architecture !!

2003 !!!

What a HOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTT !'

That may be when AMD gets a functioning neutered Hamster system up and running !!

Re: "**Sledgehammer is faster than Itanium**

Currently, ITanium is 800 MHz FASTER than the SludgePumper !!

That's 800 MHz !!!!

Unless AMD's increased the speed of the Virtu_Hamster Simulator - by running it on an ITanium system!!!

Re: "More important, what will Intel do to Compaq when they CHANGE THEIR MIND?"

Compaq is going to change their mind?

How and when?

The Alpha designers will go to Intel or leave for other companies.

The EV8 work comes to a HALT - as of yesterday !!

And Compaq will do exactly WHAT if they change their minds - close the barn door after ALL THE HORSES have run out?

You must be dreaming your AMD fantasy dream again !
