Those stats came out monthly..the eighth trading day after the 15th....the numbers are based on "15th as the settlement date".

Just a few examples/thoughts:
-The SI for CSCO was 64m for 3/01 and went up to 92M on 4/13/01. So the additional shorts were pretty much in the $17 to $14 range. Csco bounced nicely back to mid-20th; short covering helped a lot.

-Sunw, the short interest went up 10M on 6/15 to 35M from May's 24M. Looks like a big part of the additional shorts were opened above $20.
