Re 2G in the channel...

the switch complies with all interoperability standards and works with all components of multi-vendor SANs, including competitive switch products, simplifying SAN solutions for IT managers.

This approval of switch standards is great timing. Perhaps the QLGC 2G push into the channel was actually timed to this other announcement? When I tried to think why anyone would buy 1G instead of 2G the only good answer was "It will work with what we already have and 2G won't." . Seems that impediment is gone now? We know that SANmarking will commence more in late July. If the channel should start to sell the 2G into existing SANs
will there be a build up of old 1G stuff in the channel?
Will those selling 1 G in the channel cut back production now, or keep making it and get stuck with it a couple quarters from now? No hand waving can gloss over the tuff call someone has to make here. I say bring on the 2 G and bring on those switch standards.

Can OEM contracts shift more easily now that this standard is in place? Any help from those in the biz? Can anyone in the biz verify that QLGC 2G will work ok with BRCD 1G. I expect BRCD to do something funny to see that it doesn't.

The next cards to fall in this high stakes game could be interesting. Glad I'm still at the table.
