Philips quits mobile phones

Philips is to end mobile phone manufacturing, through a deal with its Chinese joint venture partner that on Tuesday pleased neither workers nor shareholders of the Dutch electronics group.

Its shares fell 5.3 per cent in Amsterdam after it announced that China Electronics Corporation was to pay an unspecified price for its handset knowhow and designs. CEC is also to take on some of the 3,100 staff at its consumer communications unit, but 1,300 jobs are to go.

IImarinen, I'm going fishing to Finland next week. Retribute with a visit Czech Republic. Skoda owned by VW produces 500.000 cars a year here. The tyres for Porsches and Ferraris are made here. I think the Czech people have to market themselves better.

I'm not saying that the whole eastern Europe is like that, but one has to look this in a case by case basis.
