1969?-1982 was secular BEAR. buy and hold in secular Bear market is a loser

Only difference to today is P/E's were under 5 and stocks paid about 5% dividend yield. Inflation was out of control so you would you could have done better in money markets at that time but you would have missed 15 fold increase in S&P in the 20 years since the gipper Ronald Regan took office.
