there's no harm in asking for a boatload of shares.

i would cancel my ioi if the ipo priced at the bottom of the range (or maybe just ask for 50-100 shares)

in the case of mosy (pricing midrange) i left a high allotment request in because i anticipated a strong mkt today, based on the dip buyers from y/day's fomc. i figured a strong up day would help mosy's performance.

as is often the case, the downside on an ipo is ~1 point; upside unlimited. i'll take that bet every time. you only need one winner to make up for a bag of lemons if you place a stop-loss of 1 point.

you're absolutely correct on flipping: "just do it", i say. "one can never go broke taking a profit"

screw the flipping policy. we all know big fundies do it all the time. why should us 'little guys' be stuck holding the bag?
