By the way, you might be able to win your arguement about Softie's PE not being under 45 if you exclude one-timce accounting events including gains on sales of investments. And that will get you into another debate about whether or not those items should be excluded. Since the winner of that debate won't ever be decided, at least you won't lose. :)

Exactly where I'm heading. If you're losing an argument start muddying the water. First, if you look across websites at the variety of P/Es given any company, it's fascinating. Would take more than a little time to sort those out.

Problem is, at least with the argument, I didn't just pull the 45 out of the proverbial hat. I recalled reading it somewhere just can't recall where. If anyone has read something like that, let me know.

Gonna win/muddy/notlose this one yet.
