FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Competisys & World Wide Packets to Deliver Broadband Services
up to 1,000 Times Faster than Traditional DSL and Cable Connections

Poppy Meadows in American Canyon to Feature “Future-Proof” Voice, Video and Data Services in the First All-digital Ethernet to the SubscriberÔ Community in Northern California

IRVINE, CALIF—June 28, 2001—Competisys Corporation, an integrated utilities company based in Irvine, Calif., announced today that it will be delivering bundled services over fiber optic Gigabit Ethernet networks directly into businesses and residences. Using World Wide Packets’ Ethernet to the SubscriberÔ solution, Competisys will provide integrated telephone, video (cable television and other video products) and high-speed Internet services over a connection that is up to 1,000 times the performance of most current broadband alternatives.
The fiber-based system will first be deployed in the Schuler Homes development of Poppy Meadows in American Canyon, Calif. Service will begin July 2001 in a model home environment, which will also be used as a demonstration facility for potential customers and for prearranged tours by those wanting to see the first all-digital Ethernet to the Subscriber community in Northern California. The complete package of services to the residents will follow in approximately twelve weeks.
By bringing fiber directly into the home, the severe bottleneck in the “first mile” that slows down data rates is eliminated. Therefore customers receive benefits such as: true DVD quality video-on-demand; personal video recording capabilities; approximately 200 digital television stations and over 35 digital music stations broadcast in digital surround sound; low long distance calling rates; remote world-wide access to online billing; true telecommuting; virtual private networks; and lightning fast Internet access. In addition, customers will receive competitively priced telephone, television, and Internet services on one bill, payable electronically through a secure site on the community portal.
“While the Competisys business model has always been to deliver fiber directly into a home or business, the World Wide Packets solution greatly increases the uplink bandwidth,” said William Prentice, chief executive officer of Competisys. “This gives users enough bandwidth to implement every available smart appliance in a completely networked home, and still have a huge amount of remaining bandwidth —all at a cost that is competitive with any telephone, television or Internet service provider available today.”

“Our LightningEdge Ethernet to the Subscriber™ products offer long-term cost-savings which future-proof networks,” said Bernard Daines, chief executive officer of World Wide Packets. “Subscribers in turn receive full-featured, high-quality telephony, data and video, with bandwidth that many believe will serve subscriber needs for the next decade and beyond.”
