POPcast Is First to Serve Up Wireless Video on Itanium(TM)-Based Compaq ProLiant Server Platform

POPcast's Video Services Delivery Platform Gears Up to Support Powerful Compaq ProLiant Servers Running Intel(R) Itanium(TM) Processors

JAVITS CENTER, N.Y., PC EXPO, June 28 /PRNewswire/ -- POPcast Communications, the leading provider of turnkey, automated video communications solutions, announced today at PC EXPO that they will conduct demonstrations of POPcast VideoMail service, running on an Itanium-based 64-bit Compaq (NYSE: CPQ) ProLiant(TM) servers, code-named Blazer, and will stream video to a wireless Compaq iPAQ Pocket CE for viewing.

PC EXPO marks the first time POPcast will demonstrate its wireless VideoMail service using Compaq's 64-bit Itanium-based ProLiant server platform. As part of the recently-announced Compaq TrailBlazer program, POPcast and Compaq continue to solidify their positions as leaders in the development of new and groundbreaking solutions that enable service providers to unlock the potential of broadband and wireless networks, maximizing return on investment through value-added, revenue-generating services.

POPcast's video services delivery platform will support the Intel(R) Itanium(TM) processor by Q4 2001, with the goal of realizing a better price/performance ratio than running on other processor architectures.

"Solutions such as POPcast's that are geared toward automating and streamlining the video process, are positioned well to provide high-value, personalized solutions that will benefit from the Itanium-based platform."

Re: Your research is about as value as Joe Osha's.

I've been posting the notion that the market has changed to favor AMD's business plan over Intel's for many months now - and I've been right. Look at the changes in earnings for each company over the past few quarters. The market for CPUs has matured since Y2K, and margins no longer support the Intel plan, while the AMD plan anticipated this change.
