Greed is but a small factor for the policies which have been enacted.

Many believe that China will get better if we show them the fruits of capitalism

First, the Chinese are already inherently capitalistic. This is not the problem, the Red Chinese government is.

Giving without the expectation of improvement rarely produces improvement and more often the opposite.

Second, there are those who believe that if we support the Red Chinese economy that maybe we will be too important for them to nuke us.

To this, I can only respond that I do not believe in paying extortion.
