Albert,

An interesting article about Apple and Motorola:

theregister.co.uk

Could lead to interesting possibilities for AMD.

<< here is the report, I did not see it posted yet >>

Was this the same guy who said AMD was going to sell notebooks to Dell?

Albert, Re: Athlon 4 (Palomino) is hot.

Hot? He should have written 'cool'. ;-)

Otherwise an encouraging report. Although I'm a bit surprised that he sees 1 GHz at the current sweet-spot (IMO it's at 1.2 GHz), there's apparently healthy demand in Asia. This could offset the decreasing retail market share (at least according to anecdotal evidence) in the US.

BTW, funny: Since Elmer and Yousef invaded the thread, the stock has gone up 20%. They should come here more often. <g>

<00:33am EDT 29-Jun-01 Robertson Stephens (Rothdeutsch, Eric) AMD
Market Share Gains Seen Continuing; Notebook Products are Red-Hot>

Wasn't someone on this thread saying just yesterday, that the drop in pricing is good for AMD and AMD may come in at toward the low-end of expectations causing the stock to pop? ;-)

I wondered a few weeks back if AMD can makeup for the market share it lost in the first half of the quarter. It appears that AMD is gaining back some of the share which is good. I still doubt if AMD will come out ahead for the quarter but the adds look good right now (though it would be driven by rock bottom Duron prices.

P. P.S.: Eric Rothdeutsch is good. For the past few months I have felt that his research quality has equaled or exceeded Jonathan Joseph's.

albert, great news from Eric Rothdeutsch. But I think the real reason AMD is up so much today is that it is now TOO LATE TO WARN, isn't it?
