I understand your point. But for your point to be true, that would imply that the US is more socialist than the other countries on the list. So the US is more socialist than that socialist cesspool the UK? [as McGowan quaintly puts it.

Unfortunately, we have some democratic congressmen that are socialists. Taxation rates at +50% are socialist in my opinion. I read somewhere that we pay more than 50% of our income to some sort of tax. I don't believe the "US" as you put it is more socialist than the UK or those others on the list. However, some of our lawmakers are.

I wish we only had to listen to 5 weeks of campaign ads.

I won't argue the buying votes thing. But I will say this. I was tickled when it was reduced. If I had no other opinion about 2 candidates, if one supported "marriage penalty" relief, then he just "won" my vote. If his intent was to win my vote, then he just bought me.
