>>Why is MU up ?<<

mu defies all logic for extended periods of time. my guess is the goons that are buying this bow wow don't know much about evaluating companies or prospects.

they believe in "efficient markets" so, therefore, micron MUST be worth $42 a share and they think the 2nd half will improve over the first half so they buy.

what they don't seem to comprehend is mu's business is getting money from capital markets. why? their core business is to spend $1 billion to make $500 million. somebody has to make up the difference. -ng-

i just don't get it. iow, nothing is new ;-)

WHY MU IS UP...
I offer a number of reasons

1. This is a post from the YAHOO MU msg board - not mine but someone elses:::

I still don't understand why you guys bother with TA on this particular stock. It has been proven over
and over and over that the price action in MU has nothing to do with Technical analysis or
Fundemental analysis. It has everything to do with who controls a large chunk of the float, the big
Mutual funds. The stock price will go wherever they agree to take it for Christ sake.

A better indicator is to look at the short interest and where a bulk of the open interest is on the options.
From the looks of it we will again probably finish above $40 on July 20, 2001 expiration. As of
yesterday:

July 40 Call 14000 o/i
July 45 Call 12660 o/i
July 50 Call 11000 o/i

July 30 Put 12300 o/i
July 35 Put 14158 o/i
July 40 Put 11000 o/i

Expect a run towards $45 to $48 to pull in more suckers on the call side before they adjust it back
down by expiration. Low volume next week will give them a chance to do this.

Energetic77 will probably update us sometime early next week as far as what the pro's are up to. I
don't know how legite he is but I've made good money now on MU listening to the bastard!

2. Most are not buyers. They just don't "sell" this stock; Insiders, ML and SimplePlot will not dump
this stock because they know eventually the general public will come in buy and the price will rise.
It's not unusual to see a heavy volume day and MU be up 5

3. Perception
Things are getting better.
Gasoline prices coming down.
Energy costs coming down.
Durable goods orders up.
Consumer confidence rising
Back to school buying close at hand
Dram prices dropping (buy on the bad sell on the good)
AND THE BIGGIE - Microsoft will not break up.
All this portents to better times.

3.ONLY WAY TO GO IS UP
