Communications chips are flying today not only because of a quarter-end markup,
but because of comments Cisco's CFO made at an investors' conference in Europe
that were construed by somebody (leading to rumors) that biz getting better and that
the company is starting to buy again. WRONG! One very good source who just got
off the phone with Cisco says the company says it has said NOTHING new and that
it was just repeating what it said at the end of last quarter for the benefit of European
investors. The company is working so hard to clear up the confusion that it has
posted the following link to a webcast of the guy's comments on its website. Listen
for yourself. (I haven't yet...just passing this along.)
