What is, is and when someone is they is. When the govt says they is not, the govt is silly.

It looks like "silly" is the word for today. Better than solipcist, I guess.

It looks to me like you reject the "what is, is" way of looking at things. I find it very helpful sometimes to put that hat on as I ponder some issue. It's kind of a shortcut version of the Serenity Prayer. Sometimes you just have to accept things as they are. Yeah, you can get all exercised over things that are "wrong" but sometimes there's no way to prevail. Shit happens! Life goes on!

I used that approach to work through my concerns about global warming. If the worst happens, life on Earth will be very different. Humans may evolve into creatures with green antennae or three legs or may not exist at all. But something will inherit the Earth. I wish them well.

So, compared to that, its hard for me to get exercised over the possibility that some past or future generation may have some different notions of human rights than we do. If they want some other notion, that's what they'll have. It may be better, or it may be worse, or it may simply be different.

It's all a matter of perspective.
