DDR, Low price but Low Demand

According the main board makers, the market still has low demand for DDR. Samsung
and Micron are expressly getting rid of their DDR inventories. Now a 128MB DDR
module sales for only $23.00! Some non-branded one is even as low as $20.00! Some
chip makers even sale the DDR chip the same price as their SDRAM chip. But at the
retail front, price of DDR module is still way higher then the of SDRAM, and there's
still question about its performance. DDR main board output remain low for main
board makers.

The reasons for the dumping of DDR memory are multiple, one been the "end of
quarter" but the main reason is people has lost their faith. The main suppliers of DDR
chip are Samsung, Micron and Nanya.

The acceptance of DDR architecture remains low, it's not about the price any more. It's
how it's been positioned (Hi performance? Right? Ha! Ha! Ha!) and people have lost
their faith on it. It's performance is only 5% to 8% higher and people still have
questions about it. Also, people are not sure if DDR price is at it "very bottom" yet.
