YUK Wretchedster this time got at least one point right - though hidden behind their usual BS :-) ================================ Given that the Alpha processor's fortunes were in the hands of a PC company, and the PC business is facing a price-cutting bloodbath, the economics for continued investment in the chip were looking brutal. Compaq had fewer OEM customers for Alpha (although Cray uses the chip) than any of its RISC rivals. theregister.co.uk

Why don't you just present some data - AND DATA - on an AMD processor with SOI technology. You don't know what it can do - all you can do is blow a STREAM of HOT AIR and pray that something may come true. And..just 8 months ago you were blowing a blow-hard-story about AMD going into production on a 0.13 micron process -- and there was NO MENTION OF SOI WHATSOEVER !! Just where was that 2-year-old SOI decision back then, Monica? Intel is ramping 0.13 micron technology into production and you are worried sh_tless that the already inferior AMD AthWiper devices will be rendered even MORE INFERIOR by Intel's new technology. So you keep piping off about some pie-in-the-sky technology that AMD does NOT have but you HOPE the will have sometime in a year or more from now - and YOU HOPE it will save them from their flame-broiled AthWipers of today.
