And who's defending socialism, dittohead? Though it is not a dirty word, considering most of norther Europe is socialist and are the best-run countries around. But American capitalism is important and must be preserved. Just with a balance. Our tax rates for the rich are now amongst the lowest in the world. Very charitable of the Bush Administration for the one group that didn't need help. So socialism is neither a a real isue in America nor a dirty word. It has its pros and cons. For single mothers for instance, it takes care of them while our society doesn't and turns them into outcasts and strippers (if they're goodlooking enough). In Europe single mothers are take care of, and so are people with severe problems who need the basics. Maybe they go too far and the tax rates are too high but it's just a trade-off. Most people in those ocuntries are quite content. You don't see Dutch or Swedes protesting. Amerivca will never be a socialist country. However you know what you get when you remove all social programs for the poor? You get crime, hopelessness, race riots and division in this country. You get emergency rooms crowded with people who wait until the malady kinocks them down to come in. You get a class system which becomes increasingly rich vs poor and a smaller middleclass. You get fences and private police forces and the total collapse of many public school systems. So some socialism is a very good thing and necessary to keep the domestic peace and forward our progress as a nation. Clinton struck an excellent balance and we had no such problems for eight years. Crime was down, no race riots like during the Bush Sr. administration, many-many success stories, more respect for women, etc. I'm sure a lot of people are kicking themsleves now for being fooled by the Bush Campaign spin-meisters and voting for that boob. He clearly represemnts the rich, the big corporate special interests, the gun lobby and to some degree with the intolerant religious right. As I predicted, watch as Bush's approval ratings continue to slide, slide, slide and he ends up begin considered perhaps the stupidest and less-effective president since Warren Harding. In the same league as if Dan Quayle had been elected. All the country club contacts but none of the brains, heart, vision or hard work ethic.
