Cheney has shown no heart, compassion or whatever you want to call it his entire career. It's darkly amusing he needs heart surgery now. I'm sure I'm not the first to think of the irony. Another irony is that such a zero-compassion man can ally himself with so-called Christians on the Right. Cheney has compassion for one group though, the oil companies, pollutors, timber interets, gun lobbies and military contractors of expensive weapon systems we don't need. In other words the people who have made him rich and powerful. Bush picked Cheney for his brains not for his heart (or lack thereof). It will be interesting to see how long Cheney lasts and who Bush replaces him with.
