Dave, many years back I worked at the Naval Underwatson System Center in Newport RI. I worked in a building that was only a few hundred yards from the main Navy piers. I had open access to the piers and a good friend and I used to go every lunch squiding. I tried squid in a few dishes but I found it was best for bait. The navy pier in Newport. navsea.navy.mil When I was in Newport there was mostly destroyers. skypic.com Between the Ta of Tall Ships was the spot and I worked at the /O of 2/00 I lived on Easton Point skypic.com and the fishing was great out at Sachuest Point skypic.com that show Easton Point wrapping around upper left and Newport in the distance. tom watson tosiwmee
