Note the final sentence. My efforts with SEC and the government were very disappointing to say the least. However, Lindsey explained to me that SEC Staff Attorneys, when they wish to obtain court orders for evidence during investigations, must apply to a special panel of judges for this to be granted, and generally multiple subpoenas are not granted for the same evidence. So, if the specific method of locating documents does not succeed in the first instance, it's over. I was amazed to learn how the SEC's hands are tied in this manner. Lindsey did inform me that during a lawsuit - class action or otherwise - this is completely different, as discovery does not include these Draconian limitations.
