I have a Netsys 5 port hub to a netsys router.
I have 2 machines connected w/ both running Netscape 4.7
1 machine is win98 SE & other is running 'ceMEnt'
I spent considerable time on the phone with my friendly techonerd to get the damn thing running. Because of this I made a cook book of every setting that I made & the order that I did them in. I have attached the document. Maybe there is something in it that will give you some Help.
Good luck
Pete

Hi KC,

Sorry to hear your problems, here is what I suggest to try.

I am also using Sympatico DSL, with a simple 5 port Ethernet Hub, connecting two/three computers, all using the Internet and networked.

First, I would make sure that each of your computers set up
correctly to connect to Sympatico independently, so unplug the other from the hub. In your server I would delete the NetBUI and remove your second network card just leave TCP/IP
to bind to the network card as well as to the PPPo.EAdapter.
Do the same thing with your second system make sure each can
logon to Sympatico.

Second in Network add in the protocol for NetBUI for each
computer trying to see if you can see your server first and client second from each place in the Network Neighborhood.
It may takes several tries, but if you remove and add often enough, it will bind. Once you can see the computers, you must give sharing to the folders or HD's or you can place
a folder on each desktop called Shared Folder and give sharing authorization to it.

Make sure the DSL modem is connected to the Uplink port
of your hub and the computers into the other ports. You cannot use the port next to the uplink if you use the DSL, so that can create problems. You don not need the second
network card if you do it this way.

I have done this several times at different sites and works,
so go for it!

Good luck.

Alex

KC,

One more thing:
All my RJ45 cables are straight not
crossovers, so make sure yours are as well.
The crossovers re used only from computer
to computer without a hub.
