Actually my cousin in the Sacramento is a bit of an energy nut and they have reduced their gas/electric consumption by 42% the last couple of months. I think much of that comes from shutting off the pool pumps which will not play well as algae starts to grow .. but in the short term 42% is impressive. The State cut back is more likely helped by all the lost jobs and idle plants. How to go Gov. Davis! Another few hundered thousand layoffs and your energy consumption may get to match supply.
