It's really a function of population density as to what and how many rights are forfeited.
Funny. I haven't noticed that increasing limitations have been placed on freedom of speech...
or the press....
or religion.....
as the population of the United States has increased. Have you?

And I have not found anything in the Constitution that says that freedom must be diminished as population increases. The men who wrote that document were an experienced, intelligent group. Now they knew the population of the country would increase as time went on. If they really thought that, you'd think they'd put it into the Constitution. Care to post the article where that is stated?

It's as if there was only so much freedom to go around and it has to be divided up in advance (and for those of you too stupid to see a metaphore when you read it, go soak your head).
Let's see. The original poplation of the US was 3 million. Now it's about 260 million. So each of us should have only 1/80 as much freedom of speech, press, religion, etc., as the original inhabitants.

Does this REALLY make sense to you?

If it does, I think you're the one who should lose his freedom. You should be locked up to keep the rest of us safe.

Yours is possibly the stupidest "argument" I have ever seen.

This is a very good idea, TigerPaw. If citizens were handed a musket and taught to fire it, say in the first grade, or as soon as they are old enough to aim it, they would acquire a deep appreciation for the fundamentals and they would be liberated from the irrational fear that you and others on this particular topic board are promoting.

Don't put words in my mouth. Automatic weapons are already illegal and there is no need for them in civilian existence. <<<you mean the founding fathers wanted a bunch of nuts out there with automatic weapons?>>>

<<< You are a goof.>>> Anyone who stands his ground gets the same insult from you. I consider it a compliment.

The NRA needs money to show people the background and truth of their natural freedoms which are guaranteed under the Bill of Rights. Many don't know they are giving up little chips of their freedom every time they knuckle under to nonsensical demands of people like Rosie O'Donnell, Chuck Shumer, and other gun control advocates.

The NRA is an effective lobby, one of the finest in history. It is composed of millions of grassroots people like myself. We gladly give as much money as we can to the NRA because it fights for our interests very effectively. The firearms industry is relatively minuscule and entails a great deal of financial risk because of the misguided efforts of people like you. Why don't you go bother somebody else's legitimate activity? You have absolutely nothing to gain from interfering with this one.
<<<The NRA just wants to pad their pocketbook and that of the weapon manufacturers who promote the NRA.>>>

If that's what you think <<<It's as if there was only so much freedom to go around and it has to be divided up in advance >>> I feel genuinely sorry for you. There must be a desert island out there for you where you can abridge your own freedom as much as you want.
