fargonaut,

thanks for the response. i actually figured out the adobe reader and installed it on this drive and everything is cool. just a little slow sometimes. middle age creeping in.

i have old versions of drive image and partition magic that i got free with the book "upgrading and repairing pcs." i really like partition magic and used it during this install when i changed my mind about the partition sizes i had set. i have had less luck with drive image. the new version sounds a little friendlier. i haven't received it yet. now that i can read the norton ghost manual i can see what it is all about and compare the two.

yes, i do have two monitors and have had no trouble getting both of them to work under win2k. i have two xpert 98 cards, one agp and one pci. the agp came up as the main monitor, just as it is on my win98 drive, and i activated the other in settings, under display. i know some people have had problems with multiple monitors under win2k but it went fine for me.

i want this to be a very stable drive so i am proceeding slowly with my installs. first norton systemworks, which i have never used before, then my dsl connection and zonealarm, which is also new for me.

i am tired of getting low resource messages and want to see how win2k handles memory and resources. i have 384 megs ram so the problem is not there.

thanks for helping and have a good evening.
