I have not read the trilogy. When I heard it had been compared to Ulysses I found that off putting. Ulysses is NOT a favorite of mine. I hate it. And I hate Finnegan's Wake too. But that's me. Some people claim to just love those books. I'm sure they're lying. But there you are. I loved Dubliners. But there I stop. I will not be moved.

Jane Austen is, in my opinion, the ultimate, the ne plus ultra of literature. So with that sort of prejudice it's probably amazing I even found the TV production watchable. But then I find all sorts of works palatable in movies, that I would never, ever, read. Like Tom Clancy.
